Role: Art Director & Sculptor
"CARVE" is a dark comedy short film about Bea, a struggling artist working in a plaster shop who creates her masterpiece in a twisted turn of events. When a loving couple arrives to order a personalized sculpture, Bea's behavior shifts dramatically, triggered by her own intimacy issues and recent breakup. In a manic state, Bea ultimately immortalizes the couple by suffocating them and creating a sculpture from their captured bodies, solidifying their love for eternity. The film is directed by award winning Dutch filmmaker, Femke Huurdeman.
As the Art Director and lead sculptor for "CARVE," I was responsible for creating the central sculpture depicting the lovers encased in plaster, drawing on my extensive fine arts background in plaster molding and foam carving. On set, I oversaw the dressing and decoration, ensuring every detail aligned with the Production Designer's and Director's vision. Additionally, I developed a custom plaster texture that was both visually striking and food-safe for the actors, demonstrating my commitment to both artistic integrity and practical safety considerations.
